Position Summary: The Community One Foundation is currently seeking a candidate to join our Board of Directors.
Do you want to be part of something impactful, exciting, and meaningful? Here’s your chance! For 45 years, we’ve championed volunteerism, community building, and supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ projects. Now, we need YOU to help us continue this legacy.
What We Do: Since 1980, we’ve funded over 1,200 groundbreaking community projects across the Greater Toronto Area. From arts and culture to health and social services, we support initiatives that make a real difference. With your help, our annual Rainbow Grants program will continue to empower the 2SLGBTQIA+ community through innovative and life-changing work. The Opportunity: We’re seeking new board members to lead committees, help with fundraising, demonstrate digital communications and graphic design, and much, much more! If you have experience in any of the following areas, we’d love to hear from you:
- +++ Non-Profit Law, Standards of Practice
- ++ Non-Profit Governance
- ++ Web Admin, Website Management
- ++ Activism, Volunteering
- Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design
- Fundraising
- Community Engagement, Social Work, Outreach
Who we’re looking for: At Community One, we’re committed to addressing historical inequities and uplifting marginalized communities. We’re especially encouraging applications from candidates who identify as Indigenous, Black, female, Transgender, Non-Binary, gender non-conforming, a Person of Colour, or an individual with disabilities. To bring the experience required of this position, we are looking for someone who identifies as such. Your unique perspective will help shape the future of this incredible volunteer-led organization.
Your Commitment: As a board member, you’ll attend monthly meetings, lead or participate in committee work, and engage in occasional community events. On average, you’ll commit 5 to 8 hours a month to help drive our mission forward. Term commitment is for two years (one term) and is available for two consecutive terms (four years).
Ready to Join? This is a rare opportunity to work alongside dedicated community leaders and make a tangible impact. Board meetings are held in-person in the evenings at The 519 Community Centre in downtown Toronto. We are accepting applications from across the Greater Toronto Area.
