The Out and About Under the Rainbow: Creating Connections for 2SLGBTTIQ+ Seniors will foster social connections among BIPOC/QT seniors and between BIPOC/CT and other LGBTTIQ+ seniors by creating a safe and inclusive space where all can socialize together and enjoy a variety of enjoyable and educational activities. The project will build greater awareness and understanding among current Rainbow participants about diverse cultures and the experiences of BIPOC/QT seniors. The goal is to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for BIPOC/QT seniors in our Rainbow programs so that they can also benefit from the socialization, recreational, and health promotion activities that Sunshine Centres offers.
Sunshine Centres for Seniors is a non-profit organization providing social, recreational and health promotion day programs for seniors in the Greater Toronto Area. Their mission is to reduce social isolation, improve the health and well-being of older adults and to empower them to lead meaningful and connected lives in which they are engaged and participating in the community.
