Who We Help
One donation at a time. One community project at a time.
Over the years, the Community One Foundation (formerly the LGCA) has raised more than $2 million to fund over a thousand community-based projects. These projects have strengthened the fabric of our diverse communities.
We recognize and thank the efforts of these project leaders. Our community's strength is in the generosity of the individuals that support it. The Foundation understands that time, talent, ideas and dollars can go a long way to creating positive change.
Many organizations and projects received support early on in their development and leveraged Rainbow Grants (formerly known as LGCA Grants) to gain further support from other sources. Many have become vital and vibrant pillars in our diverse communities.
Over the years, Rainbow Grant recipients have included the Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Youth Line, the Metropolitan Community Church Toronto, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, Toronto Pride Day Committee (now Pride Toronto), PFLAG Toronto, Gays and Lesbians of African Descent, Salaam Queer Muslim Community, the Chinese Canadian National Council, the Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention, Camp Ten Oaks, the Seniors Pride Network, the Inside Out Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and hundreds of other groups.

Through our support for the Pride Access & Diversity Grants program and the Bill 7 Award scholarship we provide assistance to marginalized groups. The $10,000 Steinert & Ferreiro Award recognizes the valuable contributions of our community leaders. Our participation in the landmark LGBT Giving Network will encourage collaboration in the LGBT non-profit sector in order to better promote philanthropy in our community.
