Steinert & Ferreiro Award Reception
On March 26, 2009 in the beautiful Mandarin Ballroom at the Metropolitan Hotel, queer parenting activist Rachel Epstein recieved the 2008 Steinert & Ferreiro Award recognizing her contributions and leadership in redefining (and improving) the definition of family. The event, hosted by Community One Foundation board member and Award co-chair, Fatima Amarshi, included addresses from Toronto Centre-Rosedale City Councillor Kyle Rae, S&F Award Trustee Kris Fortomaris, the Foundation's executive director Philip Wong, Rachel's co-nominator Lori Ross, and Foundation board member and Award co-chair Rupen Seoni.The event was proudly supported by RBC, the Metropolitan Hotel, Planet 3 Communications and founding media sponsor Xtra! An additional thanks to filmmaker Nancy Nicol for providing a short cut from her documentary about Rachel.
