2013 Steinert and Ferreiro Award - Nominations

Launched through a bequest from the Estates of Jonathan R. Steinert and Fernando Gumercindo Ferreiro in 2005, the award is Canada’s premiere recognition of leadership in the LGBTQ community.

The Community One Foundation is proud to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 2013 Steinert & Ferreiro Award. The deadline is July 15, 2013.

Eligibility

An individual who has made a significant contribution through the arts and sciences in promoting the understanding and acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, intersex and Two-Spirited people in the Greater Toronto Area. The arts and sciences may include the humanities (literature, philosophy, etc.) the social sciences (law, psychology, politics, history, social work, community development, etc.) fine arts (music, theatre, film, etc.) and physical sciences (engineering, biology, medicine, etc.) Unsuccessful nominations can be valid for the following year’s award. The nominator will be contacted to obtain agreement to have the nomination stand for a second year.

Application Instructions

Nominate someone in 4 easy steps:

STEP 1: Read the nominations guidelines and complete cover page

STEP 2: Write a 2-4 page letter outlining the individual’s accomplishments and significant contributions to the LGBTTIQQ2S community with three people signing the letter

STEP 3: Gather letters supporting this application from 2-4 other individuals or organizations that are acquainted with this individual’s work and contributions

STEP 4: Send the completed nomination submission by email or by traditional mail:
